Can’t wait to make it
[Translate]
So So excited!!!! We got everything on the list and we are ready to join you!!!!
[Translate]
Looking forward to trying this in the morning. Thanks again for doing this Drew. I am excited to change my life/habits along with you. Thanks again.
[Translate]
Does vanilla protein mix have to be used ? I have chocolate that I just bought before I decided to join you …think it will taste funny ?
[Translate]
I don’t think it has to be vanilla…back in the “Grocery List” he did mention that we could make substitutions.
[Translate]
I have chocolate myoplex powder and I just wonder if this would taste nastier with the chocolate than vanilla flavor protein. Let us know when you try it.
[Translate]
I just made it with chocolate. Go buy the vanilla it is so much better with vanilla. I bought a huge container of chocolate I guess i will use later on down the road.
[Translate]
Looks jummy
But you cheated!!! No healthy stuff until tomorrow
hahahahaha
[Translate]
Blender is in check. Can’t wait
[Translate]
Drew,
What did it taste like after not having it and eating all of that crap food for 6 months?
That actually doesn’t look near as bad as I originally imagined. I’m going to try it soon.
[Translate]
If you freeze the banana you don’t need as much ice which means more flavor…yum! Love Spinach anything! Never thought of the peanut butter double yummy! Thanks for sharing your life experiences!
[Translate]
Wow, I’m gonna try that..putting banana in Freezer now
[Translate]
OMG.. that looks awesome.. what brand of peanut butter you using? I want to put up a picture of me… and do the weekly picture journel… Where can I do that…
[Translate]
I thought you were going to use the fruit and veg supplement for breakfast?
[Translate]
I do something similar, only it has no peanut butter and has strawberries and Chia Seeds. Oh, and I use coconut water rather than almond milk and hemp protein powder.
So, I guess it isn’t all that similar, but it is also delicious and also has spinach.
[Translate]
does it need to be vanilla? or can it be any flavor? thanks! my husband and i can wait to get started!!
[Translate]
In the “Grocery List” he mentioned that we could make our own substitutions – as long as their healthy ones
-
I personally prefer Strawberry flavored protein…but I’ve heard some people recommend “Unflavored”
Just depends on your favorite flavor I suppose.
[Translate]
Can’t wait to try it!
[Translate]
Cant wait to make it tomorrow . . .
[Translate]
What are the nutrition facts, do u know??
[Translate]
Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. I will be getting fit with you.
[Translate]
do not like spinach.. but I am going to try this.. won’t kill me I am sure..
[Translate]
Oh. it is sooo good. I just made it for myself this morning and my 8 year old daughter wanted some and she loved it so much she begged me for seconds.
[Translate]
Unsweetened almond milk….but Vanilla or plain???? Also baby leaf or whole Spinach???? Thanks and keep it up!
[Translate]
Also, What do you think of skim milk instead of almond milk?
[Translate]
I think drew is using almond milk because it has no sugar and low calories content ,( unsweeten version) I just picked up the unsweeten almond milk about an hour ago and it only has 35 calories for 1 cup and 0 sugar. I cant wait to try it.
[Translate]
Great recipe, i should try it soon.
hope you get rid of all the extra pounds to feel better and healthier soon. Best of luck.
i feel so bad for you..you are breathing out so hard even when you talk!!!
[Translate]
I was thinking the same thing. His poor body is not liking that weight at all.
[Translate]
Can’t wait to try it! Will this be your breakfast every day?
[Translate]
Can’t wait to try this! When do you typically enjoy this recipe?
[Translate]
it would be awesome if u could write the recipe, my english is not so good to understand all kind of elements u use to make this shake.
thanks in advance
[Translate]
1) Big handful of spinach leaves
2) Half of a banana
3) 2 spoons of peanut butter
4) 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
5) 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk
6) 3 handfuls of Ice
Hope that helps you.
[Translate]
Some educated guesses:
2 cups (60 g) of spinach leaves (15 calories)
1/2 medium banana (50 calories)
2 tablespoons (32 g) of natural peanut butter (180 calories)
1 scoop of whey protein powder (300 calories)
3/4 cup (6 fl oz) unsweetened almond milk (30 calories)
ice to desired consistancy (approx. 2 cups)
Total of 575 calories, assuming that all blends into a 16-20 oz shake.
Hope that helps!
[Translate]
300 cal for the whey powder looks too high.
Isagenix say 1 scoop = 23 gr = 100 cal (here’s the link:
http://www.isagenix.com/us/en/isapro.dhtml)
The other estimates look right (almond milk reference i found would put it at 45, maybe).
That makes the total 375-400, though Drew’s estimate here was 500 cal.

[Translate]
Perfect for my Vitamix!
[Translate]
Brilliant, following closely from Norway Drew!
[Translate]

[Translate]

[Translate]
So excited to try this shake and join you on your journey!
[Translate]
Wow, I calculate that at about 390 Calories 12.5 Fat grams. I can see that as a healthy breakfast for the old you, but not the new.
[Translate]
It’s good fats and calories though
[Translate]
What can I replace the banana with? I am allergic to all latex fruits (bananas, avocado, strawberries, papaya, etc.)
[Translate]
I also share fruit allergies (similar to latex kind). However, I find that if the fruit is cooked in some way – for example, I’m allergic to apples but I can eat applesauce – then it wont affect me. I found a site where it’s shown that green bananas can be boiled.
http://www.jamaicatravelandculture.com/food_and_drink/green_banana.htm
Of course their texture is different: being more firm in comparison to yellow ones. But give that a try with yellow bananas and see if that may work for ya.
[Translate]
I’ve done a rough girly version of this for myself if anyone is interested
100g of spinach
100g or 1/2 banana
10g or 1/2 tbs of Almond butter (I use Melrose)
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
150ml Almond Milk (I make my own Almond milk by soaking 100g raw almonds in water for 4 hrs, drained and rinse, chuck it in the blender with 1 litre or 4cups of water and voila) it’s a lot cheaper (Almond Milk is about $8 per litre in Australia).
362 calories
14.2g fat
2.4g saturated fat
29.2g protein
203mg sodium
32.3g Carbs
5.8g Fibre
20.1g sugar
161.2mg calcium
[Translate]
Thank you Carissa! I’m using a BodyMedia Fit armband and have to enter information such as this. I appreciate your posting this! Can’t wait to try this shake!
[Translate]
can someone tell me how this tastes, does it taste as good as the original??
[Translate]
totally stoked to get a blender now.. been wanting one for protein shakes and such, but this “super protein shake” just seals the deal. thanks for the recipe champ; good luck starting tomorrow on fat2fit!
[Translate]
Wish I would have known about the protein whey……wasn’t on the grocery list. I got everything but that!
[Translate]
I m so excited, this is going to be a great start to a whole new life style.
[Translate]
I’m trying this baby out tomorrow! Question: Are you going to be on the “Body Cleanse System” tomorrow (Nov. 5th)? if not, when will you begin that?
[Translate]
Hey… I’m a little confused. The protein powder wasn’t on the grocery list and I thought we didn’t have to do supplements? Other than what is on the list, what do I NEED? If I’m not using the powder then what do I put in the shake instead?
[Translate]
some of the substitutes that I would use would be:
1. egg (raw)
2. oats
3. any form of nuts (pistachio contains highest amount of protein, or so I’ve read)
4. some kind of seeds (pumpkin seeds contain a big amount of protein)
Just try to get a good protein serving from these or any substitution you would use..and if need be, mix them all in.
And you’re right, Protein powder wasn’t on the list. But if you bought the Protein bar (which was on the list) then I would throw that the blender as a substitution
[Translate]
Thanks Tony!!!
[Translate]
Oh yeah, and how do we know what portions are right for us?
[Translate]
Yummy :O)
[Translate]
I make a similar spinach smoothie but I add spinach, plain coconut milk, banana, strawberries, ground flaxseed and 2 scoops vanilla whey protein for my PWO meal. It tastes delicious!
[Translate]
Love the new shake idea. Thx Drew
[Translate]
Looks very good, I’ve never had a spinach shake before, will definetly try! Thanks.
[Translate]
I don’t do peanut butter or any nuts butter. Is there anything else I could use?
[Translate]
[Translate]
Any tips on substituting the almond milk, as I’m allergic. Is this breakfast shake designed for people who works out a lot? I am stuck in an office and very restricted after a shoulder op 7 weeks ago, seems too calorie rich then, or am I wrong?
[Translate]
Just tried the shake!! its great!! good combo well down…. with you all the way
[Translate]
I don’t like peanut butter. Is there anything else as substitute?
[Translate]
Alright Drew, you didn’t say I’d need to eat it with a spoon! A little on the thick side, plus my wife got up and yelled at me for using the blender at 7am.
The shake is fantastic. I personally can’t taste the spinach like i thought I would.
[Translate]
LOL.. good post
[Translate]

Just about finished with my first spinach shake and I have to say it’s pretty darn good. I’m ready to do this along with everyone else. Let’s Roll !!!
[Translate]
I agree!! I didn’t think I would like it but it is really good!!
[Translate]
Bought all my ingredients last. About to run it through my “ninja.”
[Translate]
It’s good!!! I threw in some blue berries just for fun. What a great way to get those first servings of fruits and veggies down. I think this will turn into a habit. Thanks Drew!!!
[Translate]
hi question, on your wife’s meal plan it doesn’t say she drinks the shake. my sister and I are doing this and wanted to know if she should drink it or not? thanks in advance
[Translate]
I was REALLY scared to try this, and I actually LIKE spinach . . . but it was sooooo good!! Tasted like a vanilla shake to me. I made a smaller shake, since I’m a woman, and make it in my bullet blender. Just used half of everything. I put the other 3 4th of banana in the freezer so I wouldn’t waste it.
[Translate]
I understand that wheat germ is very beneficial to weight loss–you might want to add a tablespoon to the shake–it does affect the taste!!!
[Translate]
Had my spinach shake for the day…no bad at all..very fresh smell, really good bright heeathy color..he he he
[Translate]
Thank you so much for this. I made the skale thismornign and brought the rest to work with me. It is sooo good. I used Chocolate Whey powder and a whole bananna. Its amazing…and everyone at work is trying to steal it from me now. Thanks again.
[Translate]
You seem out of breath! crazy how things change!!! Good luck on your next phase!!
[Translate]
This was exactly the shake my son had every morning and occ. for an afterworkout snack while he was bodybuilding! It’s yummy!
[Translate]
Hi Drew, I just finisched my first shake for breakfast and eventhough i dont like Spinache, i really love this recipe. Its Awesome
Following you from Germany.
[Translate]
I love the shake!
[Translate]
Does anyone know the brand of blender he is using. I need to get a smoothie blender and I like the one he’s using…. Thx in advance
[Translate]
Just had my first spinach shake! It is so good! I love it.
[Translate]
Really tastes GREAT!! Surprised after seeing what went in the blender LOL Thanks Drew
[Translate]
I use dates to sweeten because I can’t have bananas either. I use 7 dates for my spinach smoothie. I also use frozen fruit such as peaches and strawberries instead of peanut butter and ice.
[Translate]
Wow, I just made this as my dinner and it’s delicious! To anyone on the fence about drinking liquified spinach: you can’t taste it at all.
I’m a big fan of smoothies, and I have to say this is the best one I’ve ever had. I substituted 1/2 cup of skim milk for the almond milk, added 1/4 cup plain nonfat yogurt, used 1/2 almond butter and 1/2 peanut butter, and added 1/2 tablespoon of ground flaxseed meal. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe.
[Translate]
What kind of blender do you use. Our blender will not crush the ice properly. The blades spin, but the ice just rests on top.
[Translate]
Its a Blendtec blender in the video. i have one, i recommend it!. They are a pretty penny though about 300$-400$. Vita Mix are similar but more money.
I heard ninjas are good but i bought one and it didn’t do well with shakes.
Honestly i had an Oster basic blender that did better than the ninja. But my husband broke it so i got a Blendtec!
If you cant / won’t buy; Freeze your fruit! and splash cold water in it or it is too thick for me. i wonder if freezing peanut butter would work? hmm..
[Translate]
Do you know if you could make this ahead of time and freeze a few batches and thaw them out in time for Breakfast? Just trying to plan ahead for when I have little time in the morning.
[Translate]
I also would like to know if you could make this ahead of time and freeze or will it keep in the refrigerator over night for Breakfast? Need to plan ahead I have little time in the morning.
[Translate]
Really like this shake. Make sure you’re getting outside for a while, not just for the fresh air but take in some sun! With good nutrition, the sun can do miraculous things for our bodies even if only walking around the block for 20 minutes!
[Translate]
Is this shake for men only? I didn’t see it on the plan for women.
[Translate]
I gotta admit, I liked the idea of this better than I liked the taste. I’m not used to eating anything like this, so it was hard to keep from gagging. I am pledging to drink it everyday though! Hopefully over time and change of lifestyle, I can learn to appreciate the taste of healthier foods.
[Translate]
Ok so I made the shake this morning and ohhh my Delicious!!! Very filling as well my kids loved it to they thought they were getting dessert for breakfast because its sweet
Ty this is getting easier by the day!
[Translate]
I’m drinking this shake as I’m posting…. and it is DELICIOUS! My husband is pretty fit; he drinks all sorts of powder drinks and takes supplements and goes to the gym regularly. I really think he would like the shake, but I already know that I won’t be able to get him to try it. Such a shame… but more for me!
LOL
[Translate]
Wow~the shake was delicious. My 12 year old, very picky eater even liked it! I used a frozen banana and it made the shake even creamier. I have a stubborn 15 lbs to lose and am so excited about trying this healthy way to eat. I already exercise a lot and am hoping the weight will quickly fall away!!
[Translate]
SOOOOOO DELICIOUS :p
[Translate]
I love the shake! It’s an amazing quick way to get everything I need before I run out the door. THANK YOU!
[Translate]
What do you do with the rest of the shake? No matter how little i make i always end up with about 2dl of shake remaining. Can i put it in the fridge and use it later?
[Translate]
triumph,
I posted this info in a new post, but then I saw your question. I too thought the recipe made too much of a shake. So, I put the other half in a plastic bottle and froze it. I took the frozen bottle to work, let it thaw a little, and then shook it up really hard. It worked great! This morning, I made 2 batches of shakes and froze 3 bottles. My next 3 days of shakes are done already!
[Translate]
OMG SO GOOD.
I didn’t know tasty things could taste so good!
Thank you Drew…… This one I’m going to “wow” my family with!
luv it!
[Translate]
This is a thick shake!! Need a spoon to eat but surprisingly very tasty! I replaced the scoop of protein with a scoop of the fruit wholefoods mix and it was still delicious!
[Translate]
Awesome shake Drew!!! I never cared for spinach, but this has me re-thinking my old thoughts! I will be making this often! Thanks again!
[Translate]
Just made my first shake and I’m enjoying it now. It is very good. It tastes like a peanut butter, banana smoothie. 5/5 stars for sure, LOVE IT!!
[Translate]
My first day done! Shake was soooo goood I cant wait to make one in the morning! Thanks Drew!
[Translate]
Is the spinach shake specifically for men or can women drink it as well?
[Translate]
hi drew! congratulations for making it til the end for your fat journey. i started making your spinach protein shake and it was good. tho when i told it to some of my friends, they find it disgusting. i never thought that way. so i made one and have them tasted it, they like it. so i told them not to judge it without tasting it first. just like to share it with you. thanks so much. i’ll do your other food recipes too. take care!
[Translate]
For those who only want 1/2 of a shake, you can put the remainder in a plastic bottle and freeze it! I’ve done this several times, and it’s great. I just re-use my Vitamin Water plastic bottles. I take the frozen spinach shake to work, and as it thaws a little, I just really shake it up hard. Works great for me. This morning, I made 2 batches of spinach shake and froze 3 bottles.
[Translate]
Just had my shake this morning for the first time (im about a week late starting this whole thing… Better late than never!). So I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it… Anyone have any suggestions on sweetening up the taste a bit? Would strawberries help, or is that a weird combo? Haha.
